What is the TurnAid Patient Turning System?

The TurnAid System is a powered patient turning system that is attached to a client’s bed. It features side rails with electric turning rollers, which combine with a turn sheet and slide sheet to facilitate patient turning and repositioning at the touch of a button. 

The TurnAid reduces back strain for nursing staff and family members during the repositioning of patients weighing up to 350kg. Excessive spinal loading and resultant back pain are significantly minimised.

How does the TurnAid help with repositioning?

The speed-adjustable patient turning system enables nursing staff to reposition and turn the patient in a gentle, dignified manner, using a hands-off approach. 

Patients can easily be moved sideways on the bed by turning the roller bars via the hand control. By raising one of the side rails, the patient can be turned by moving them towards the raised side using the hand control and guiding them into a side-lying position.

Does the TurnAid prevent pressure damage?

Frequent repositioning of a patient using the TurnAid will help reduce the risk of pressure damage from occurring.

The basic functions of the bed are retained, so the system can also be used together with pressure-relieving mattresses for rapid treatment of pressure damage.

How is the TurnAid attached to a bed?

The TurnAid is easy to install on the majority of community-style profiling beds in the UK. It fits onto the metal frame of a community-style bed and replaces the existing side rails (the TurnAid system doubles as fully-compliant side rails).
