December 19, 2025 | Terry Smith How to use the RAYMEX® Lift to lift yourself off the floor after a fall In this step-by-step guide, we show you how to use the RAYMEX® Lift to lift yourself safely and quickly off the floor if you experience a fall. The RAYMEX® Lift can be used independently to lift yourself from the floor, provided you are uninjured and have sufficient strength and mobility to shuffle yourself onto the device. Let’s jump into the step-by-step guide. Always check for any injuries before lifting yourself from the floor Before attempting to lift yourself from the floor, it’s very important to check whether you have any pain, significant discomfort, or injuries. Skipping this step may lead to further injury or complications. If you feel you are uninjured and able to mobilise once lifted from the floor, you can proceed to use the RAYMEX® Lift. Use the handle-mounted or side-mounted controls The RAYMEX® Lift is fitted with controls in multiple positions, making them easily accessible regardless of your position. The controls on the RAYMEX Lift’s handles control the electronic brakes and the electronically elevating seat. RAYMEX® Lift handle controls Similar controls are found on either side of the RAYMEX® Lift. These are positioned to enable a fallen person to easily lower the seat without having to reach up to the handle controls. RAYMEX® Lift Side Controls Lower the RAYMEX® Lift’s seat to the floor Once you have sufficiently checked for injuries and are comfortable lifting yourself from the floor, press the down button to lower the RAYMEX seat to the floor. Note that the electronic brakes automatically apply when lowering or raising the seat, ensuring the RAYMEX Lift does not move unexpectedly during the lift. The RAYMEX® Lift’s seat lowers down flush to the floor, making it easy to shuffle yourself onto the seat. RAYMEX® Lift with seat fully lowered Lift yourself off the floor using the RAYMEX® Lift Shuffle yourself onto the fully-lowered RAYMEX seat, using the handles or flat surfaces above the wheels to support. Note that you can fold up the handles by pulling out the tabs, which can make it easier for some individuals to support themselves onto the RAYMEX seat. Lift yourself from the floor by using the handle controls to elevate the seat. Feel free to pause at any time if you need. The RAYMEX Lift remains braked during the process, unless you wish to un-brake the device using the controls. Continue to raise the RAYMEX Lift’s seat to a perching position for mobilising off the device, and use the handles to safely stand. RAYMEX® Lift in perching position Continue to use the RAYMEX® Lift to stay safe in your own home Now that you are up off the floor, you can un-brake the RAYMEX® Lift and continue to use the device as a walking aid to help keep you safely mobile around your home.
