Connected Care Telecare Service, Southampton City Council

Service Development Officer – Care Technology

“Many of the call outs we attend are to clients who have fallen. Our responders are trained to assess a client on site and can quickly establish whether an ambulance is needed. For many all they need is some reassurance and some help getting up to their feet. Swiftly righting a person who has fallen is key to preventing further harm but this must be done in a way that safeguards the health and safety of the client and the responder.

“Unlike other solutions the Raizer can easily be assembled and operated by only one assistant and does not require any physical effort besides a supportive hand.

“In October alone we used the Raizer 41 times – each time a lone responder was able to safely right the client without resorting to risky manual handling or calling upon the ambulance service. That’s 41 incidences that would most likely resulted in an expensive paramedic attendance.”
