Patient Hoist Slings

Selecting the right lifting sling is paramount for safe patient transfers and must be underpinned by careful assessment.

Several factors need to be considered including:

  • Size and weight of the user
  • Characteristics of the user and level of support required e.g. muscle tone, head and trunk control to determine the functionality and fabric of the sling.
  • Type and frequency of transfer e.g. is a seated or standing transfer required? What other care equipment is involved in the transfer?
  • Attachment type and hoist compatibility e.g. does the hoist require loop or clip attachments and what type of hoist spreader bar is being used?

There is a huge selection of patient hoist slings available to meet these different needs, from toileting slings to specialist in-situ slings for all day use.
