Background to the project

Broadoaks is an imposing 19th-century manor house, standing in the historic market town of Rochford in Essex. It is pleasantly situated near a large park and lake where residents can take a stroll whilst enjoying the local wildlife.

Originally a 20-room care home, Broadoaks was extended in 2017 to provide another 14 bedrooms.

Our partnership & solution

Following consultation, Felgains were pleased to be selected to supply and install the care equipment for the 14 additional bedrooms.

14 high-end Stretto Profiling Care Beds, 13 Robin Ceiling Hoist Systems, 2 Syncra hi-lo baths and associated equipment were supplied and installed.

The Robin Overhead Hoist was chosen due to its unique twin-tape design which means that no spreader bar is required. This removes the risks to dementia sufferers associated with a traditional spreader bar.

Project Outcome

Felgains successfully supplied and installed the equipment on time ahead of the official opening of the extended care home. 

Today, Broadoaks is a highly-rated care home, that specialises in care for residents with Dementia related illness. The overhead hoisting systems allow staff to easily carry out patient transfers in a way that is safe and dignified.
