How the RAYMEX® Lift helped a client stay mobile and independent at home

Margarita Solecka, a Specialist Physiotherapist from Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group, shares how the RAYMEX® Lift has supported one of her clients. He lives with a neurological condition, and before the RAYMEX® Lift, his mobility was becoming harder to manage, and his confidence was low after several falls. This is what changed.

The problem

Her client’s mobility had become difficult to predict. His legs could give way with little warning, and he had already had a number of falls both inside and outside the home.

“He often relied on furniture for support. Other walking frames had been trialled, and they did not provide enough stability or confidence, so he was reluctant to use them consistently.”

Finding a solution

When the RAYMEX® was introduced, the difference was clear straight away.

“He appeared more stable when walking, his posture improved, and most importantly, he felt much more confident. The additional support meant he could focus on moving around rather than constantly worrying about losing his balance.”

Somewhere to rest when he needs it

The built-in seat turned out to be one of the most useful features, as his mobility and energy levels can change from day to day.

“Knowing he can sit down immediately when needed has helped him remain active and independent within the home while reducing the risk associated with pushing himself too far.”

Peace of mind for the whole family

Before the RAYMEX®, getting up after a fall was a real struggle, and it often meant relying on family members who weren’t always physically able to help.

“Having equipment that can support a safer route back to standing has provided a great deal of reassurance and reduced some of the anxiety surrounding falls.”

New options for therapy

Because he can now safely get down to lower positions and back up again, his physiotherapist has been able to do more with him during sessions.

“Being able to safely access lower positions has supported work around stretching, positioning and management of lower limb spasticity, while still giving him a practical way of returning to standing.”

Time with the grandchildren and dogs

For him, one of the best changes had nothing to do with therapy.

“He could lower himself safely to spend time with his grandchildren and dogs, then use the lift to get back up independently. It gave him more confidence and allowed him to enjoy meaningful time with his family without relying on others for physical help.”

The result

The client still lives with a neurological condition and is still at risk of falls. But he now has a safer way to stay mobile, rest when he needs to, and get back up independently.

“From my perspective as his physiotherapist, the greatest benefit is that it promotes independence rather than simply restricting activity to manage risk.”
