The original VENDLET patient turning system was developed by a Danish innovator who had noticed that his wife was struggling with the physical strain of turning their disabled daughter in bed. Since then, the technology has been developed and refined by a registered physiotherapist, and the VENDLET family are now the most advanced patient turning systems on the market. The expanding range currently includes the V5S and the Bari. More models will be joining the family soon.

Double-up care packages are costly, and often unnecessary. VENDLET turning systems mechanically reposition patients by gently winding in the sheets that they are lying on. This initiates a smooth turning motion, and it takes just one carer to use their free hand to guide the client into place.
Single-handed care brings a whole wealth of benefits beside cost efficiency. Single-handed care can solve the problem in the local community of co-ordinating multiple carers to attend the same client, which can be problematic. Single-handed care can also help alleviate headaches associated with low staffing levels, for social care organisations as well as care homes and hospitals.
Using the VENDLET to reposition patients drastically reduces friction and shear, virtually eliminating the risk of tissue damage. And if the VENDLET is to be operated by just one carer, it makes it easier for care agencies to improve consistency in care. Single-handed care also allows for the development of more personal one-to-one relationships between clients and their carers, and improves levels of privacy and dignity, which have been proven to positively affect well-being.

|Does the bed need to be accessed from both sides?||Because the V5S’s side rails are mechanically lifted and lowered, you don’t need to physically access both sides of the bed. The bed can be positioned against a wall and remain fully operable from one side of the bed.||Although you will need to access both the head and foot end of the bed on each side to release the side rail catches, the Basic can be positioned against a wall on one side. This is because the side rails are lifted and lowered vertically and so do not protrude into the room at any point.|
